End of Year Party 2017
Traditionally, the Techcast Radio end of year party is a chance for final year students to have one last hoorah before leaving and going into the big, wide world. This year, Small Seeds was filled with students from all year groups with a range of music and the night did not disappoint.
First up was acoustic turned bluesy garage-rock duo Inward Chills who filled the stage with sound despite the face that there was just the two of them up there.
Next up, final year student Biz-Low took to the DJ decks with his chilled collection of hip-hop.
Next on the main stage was ilovecolour with their blend of alt rock, indie, lo-fi and noise rock. Following on from their performance at our Rocktober gig in October (get it?), the band went down a treat with the crowd with their impressive sound and huge stage presence.
Once ilovecolour had reached the end of their set, University of Huddersfield lecturer, Dr Matthew Stephenson stepped up on stage to deliver a poem before heading over to the DJ booth. The MTAS Bash was a pun-filled poem that was a hit with everyone in the room.
Over in the DJ booth, Dr Matthew Stephenson played a range of indie-rock classics that had everyone singing along.
The night ended with some feel good funk from the University funk band; Loose Kiwi. The funk band are a Techcast staple and never fail to disappoint. Their army of members filled the stage as the audience danced the rest of the night away.
Biz-Low ended the night with another of his DJ sets, closing the final Techcast gig of the year. Stay tuned for more gigs in the new academic year! If you're ever interested in getting involved with any of the Techcast events, get in touch with us!
